Easier and
cost-effective solution to creating a spare bathroom
(NC)-There comes a time in every household when having
additional bathrooms makes sense. Yet, the thought of costly and messy
renovations is enough to discourage even the most committed.
"Our household is chaotic, with our teenagers and their
friends coming and going," says Fred Smith "We needed a spare bathroom in
the basement TV and games room which had become their hang out. But space
was tight, and without plumbing in place we were nervous about renovation
costs."
In an effort to find a solution that was not going to lead to
major and costly renovations, they began a search on the Internet. There
they learned about Saniflo a macerating toilet system.
"The flexibility of the macerating toilet meant we could turn
the unused space under the stairs into a powder room" he says, adding, "My
wife also thought to turn the closet in the guest room into a powder room.
It made sense as my elderly mother comes to stay with us, and having access
to a powder room so close gave her comfort, while also providing her with

Macerating technology is relatively new to North America yet
it was developed over 50 years ago by the France based SFA Saniflo. Today,
the company markets its macerating systems through more than 500 distributor
locations throughout the United States and Canada.
The Saniflo product looks like a conventional toilet but can
be installed virtually anywhere with access to water and electricity. Its
"above-floor" technology with no need to damage floors or walls, uses a
rotating cutting blade to convert waste and toilet paper into a slurry that
is flushed through narrow diameter piping into the sewer or septic system.
The macerator pump is fully enclosed, sealed for life and requires no
maintenance. In addition, a macerating system can handle just a toilet or
all the fixtures, including sink, shower and tub. It is also easily
installed.
In many homes, the plumbing makes it impractical or
impossible to add a spare bathroom. In others, a lack of space is an
obstacle. In either case, a macerating toilet system is the ideal solution.
It can be added anywhere from basement to garage, to the attic or even to a
closet or nook under a stairway.
